"The range of her output and it’s signature clarity of form, colour and line has always impressed. There is a distillation of experience going on here, a process of refining textures and colours until they approach some undefined new order. There is an exuberance and technical facilty with the process of making art.”

Niki Jiménez has been producing art for many years now. New Zealand born, with influences from both Europe and her own native land, her fine sculptures and paintings are uplifting, familiar yet otherworldly, deftly crafted and imbued with playfulness.

The land, people, abstract worlds, sculptural forms, words, calligraphic motifs and Buddhist inspired images all play a revolving part in her gallery of work.

From raw black and white landscapes in ink, fresh and quirky portraits of people, layered paintings on glass, buddhist colour thoughts on canvas, kinetic forms filling space, totemic carbon sculptures .... art happens.

Jiménez has a rich history, has been recognised with a number of awards and scholarships, and has her work in many private collections.

Of particular interest to her in the last few years is Buddhist Art. Paintings exploring concepts of limitlessness, free space, mind, joy and wisdom in a contemporary way are at the forefront of her most recent works here in New Zealand.
